Golf Styles Hit the Ice

I told you there was a connection between golf and curling!

Back in September, I contemplated giving up golf for curling. After having a horrific performance at a tournament, I decided to explore other sporting options to combine my figure skating and golf experience. After some research, it was obvious that curling was for me. I even started my own curling blog: Real Women Curl.

Clearly I'm not the only one who sees the connection between golf and curling. Check out the Norwegian Olympic Curling Team and their Loudmouth pants. According to my bud JD, all the curlers on the team are also golfers. I could definitely curl in a Loudmouth skort.
Say what you will about the Loudmouth styles, but I think it's cool that the Norwegian team is having some fun with their uniforms. This is not the first time this team has made a fashion statement on the ice: Back in April, they sported bright pink belts during the World Men's Curling Championship.

So maybe I should trade my golf balls in for stones. Given the weather in Ohio, I may not have a choice. At least I'm good at broomstacking.

Time to Curl

Today I began my quest to become a curling champion. I believe this sport combines my love of the ice and the satisfaction I derive from pursuing a target.

I am anxiously awaiting a call from the Columbus Curling Club to find out how to start. The recorded message says I will hear from someone in the next 48 hours. I'm not sure I can wait that long.

I have great balancing skills. I am good with a stick in my hands. I have strong skills on the ice. I can even lunge like Camilo Villegas.

I can't wait to start. Only 490 more days until the 2010 Vancouver Games. I hope it's not too late.
